In a way, yes, but reading is not essential. It´s the process of collecting itself that matters (that interests me).

Fishing. I enjoy fishing very much.

Well, yes. I make it a point of spending a few hours by the river eve

What are the most common hobbies of Englishmen?

Well, it isn´t an easy question. Many of them like sports and games, others, gardening or collecting different things. As for me, I enjoy carpentry, just making shelves, boxes, stools and so on.

Your hobby seems to be both interesting and useful for the house. Your wife must like your pastime, eh?

Oh, yes. When I come home after work she´s ready to give some «others» to repair this or that.

What do you usually do after work, Susan?

Oh, a lot of things. There´s always a lot of work to do about the house, washing up, doing the rooms, mending clothes.

No, I don´t mean that. What´s your favourite pastime?

Again — nothing very special. Sometimes I read a little, watch TV or listen to. When Jane calls, we go to the cinema very seldom, through, to the theatre.

I see. What about dancing? Do you like it?

Oh, very. Actually I´m crazy about dancing. Do you mean to say we´ll go to a dance?

Yes, I´d like to. There´s a very good hall at the College Club.
